Anita Lovell

King School, Galesburg School District

first year at 4th grade

Anita started teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade. Where she has emphasized to those young minds the importance of reading and not only will it help with instructions on a toy or recipe but the places, activities and more you can gain from reading. Now in 4th grade, she is emphasizing reading but in her belief as being as a teacher, show the students how to be the best they can be while having fun. She is a very hands on teacher, more one on one contact with students to help them learn and grow. This year she has accepted the challenge, I should says “challenges” of teaching via Zoom, or whatever link they are using. She is constantly searching to find various programs, links, videos, whatever it may be for the students to watch or participate in about various subjects. She gets excited when her students do something so great. And how she wishes she could give them a high 5 or send them a note of “good job”! She likes to do activities with the students so they can see the actual result in real time; such as raising caterpillars into beautiful monarchs. She is dedicated to her students, even if this year adds a few more gray hairs.
