Julie Keith

Maroa-Forsyth Grade School

Kindergarten

Julie Keith is an incredibly special teacher and I have the privilege of watching it from a perspective a little bit different than that of a student or parent. Julie is my mother and I have watched her pour all her energy, love, and effort into her passion of teaching kindergarten. Anytime I’m running errands with her, there is always a current or former student running up to her to share about their day and you can just see the joy light up both in the student and my mom’s eyes as she intently listens to them and shares in their excitement. It is very apparent that she leaves a lasting impact on each student that goes through her room. This year has been quite different with COVID-19, and she spends hours outside of her classroom planning, prepping, and learning how to maneuver through these crazy times. She is not the most tech-savvy (and she will be the first to admit it!) but she has poured in so much time into learning all there is to learn about Zoom and Google Classroom so that she can give her students the best experience possible. I have had the joy of getting to hear her ideas of how to keep her students engaged and excited about the school year even though it looks very different, and the amount of work she has put into making this a great year for her students is true inspiring. She is a kind, compassionate, engaging, hard-working, one of a kind teacher, and I’m so proud to call her my mom!
