Lacey WoodTravis Drilingas
Sangamon Valley Intermediate
Lacey is probably the most deserving person to receive this. She is not only an amazing teacher, but an active pillar in our community in all things kid related! Whether it be our Summer Recreation program, summer sports, community events, etc, you can be assured that Lacey Wood has her hands in it.
But that’s not what we are talking about today! We are talking about the amazing teacher she is. She had my son, now nearly 21, in her class. He was going through something and we were trying to figure that out. It was Lacey, when he was in her class, that also found concern and suggested we contact a neurologist. We did, and discovered our son had a mild case of Tourette’s Syndrome. She went above and beyond to help him from that point on, even after he moved up in grades. She had his back, as she does for all her students. She is one of the most selfless people you will ever meet. I’m honored to not only have had a couple of my kids/grandkid have her as their teacher, but to call her a friend. Her stepping up then led Ryan and I to sharing his story and in turn creating a FB support group for those with TS that has now grown to nearly 6000. We too are making a difference in the lives of so many, as she does, daily. She most definitely deserves this!
