Nathan Gayheart

Nathan Gayheart

Armstrong High School

12-Sep

Nathan goes above and beyond for his students and always has. He works long, sometimes 15 hour days between school, after school and coaching football. Because he teaches in a small, rural community, his class sizes are small. Being a science teacher, you can’t do many labs or “fun” activities with small class sizes, but Nathan always finds a way. He takes his students out to Middlefork at night to learn how to look for stars using a telescope, makes homemade ice cream every year with them to teach them about chemical reactions and the students personal favorite, makes bouncy balls with them to teach them about rules of Physics. His energy doesn’t end in the classroom. He’s also a brilliant football coach. Win or lose, he’s supportive and calm. He wants his boys to have a positive experience and remember him as supportive and monumental as his high school football coach. Some of his days are 6 AM – 10 PM, but he never complains. He’s what every parent should want as a teacher or coach for their child.
