Throughout my years of school at Cobden, I have witnessed several band directors and music teachers come and go, not really learning to my full potential. But my freshman year of high school changed that when Mrs. Ronna became the new band director. Every student hopes to have a teacher that not only teaches adequately, but takes the time out of their day to help you and make sure you are succeeding the way you should be, giving you opportunities you never thought were possible. Not many teachers meet these standards, but Mrs. Ronna is one of the rare exceptions. Since she has taken over, my knowledge and understanding of music has surpassed what I thought I could ever learn. It takes a specific person and personality to be able to be a talented, amazing, and helpful band director that provides special opportunities to those students in band, which Mrs. Ronna not only does well, but exceeds at. Because of these reasons, she meets the requirements, and deserves to be nominated for a competition such as this. Even if she doesn’t win, I hope that all teachers that are as excellent as her are one day recognized for their hard work and talents in their field, as they should be.
